I understand counter steering drops the bike to one side so the different radius along the curved tire makes the bike turn, just like rolling a cup on a table. That wouldn't work with a care tire, would it?

Sounds like an oil page,...dino vs syn,....so many opinions,...If you haven't tried it,..O Flat Earthers,...do you REALLY have a right to bitcK about it? There's monsters over the edge,..don't go? I don't see much of a need to even try this on an 800 vol. They are a lightweight bike that can be tossed into corners. I have a C109R now, after putting over 50k miles on my '01 Vol, that my boy has now. I'd get 10k miles out of a rear consistently.
I now get way less due the the extreme weight and power of this bike. I run a 240/55R/16. My FRONT is a 150/80R/16. I was going to put a CT on this time, but found an Exedra Max for the price of a CT. If this special compound, long wear tire doesn't get me the long life, CT it is. I last ran a Metzler ME880 XXL. The tire is down to the cords in 2 circumferences, both in the middle area. I live in a VERY curvy/hilly region in eastern Ohio. STILL wore the center. Because if you're not racing, or on an 800, you cant wear the whole tire. On the 800 Vol, I had wear on almost the entire tire, lip to lip. Not this beast. It wears MAYBE half the width of that monster tire. Result, premature center tire wear. And these big tires are expensive. The ME 800 was almost $300 for the rear alone. People that ride the bigger bikes longer distances are going CT. It makes sense. Don't do it on an 800 Vol. Makes no sense. Those bikes lean a lot! I scrape hard unmoveable metal, and I'm still on the inner third of the tire. Sport tires are reccomended to prevent separation. I don't reccomend snit. ................Soo,..I should be able to run diesel oil in my bike,.Right??...Hehehehehe

Good luck with the darkside mod, not sure I would do that myself. I've got Metzeler's on my bike and have great tread at about 10k. I expect they will go to 16-18k before replacement. These also handle great, I noticed an improvement over the stock tires. For an extra $75 over a car tire, I am satisfied with the proper tire!
