if kicking back when you're kicked is okay, that's good, 'cause that's all i'm doing.

anyone who says "no corporation has anything to do with it" is just way sadly out of touch with all that's happened.

if one "stickied" thread is meant to make up for broken promises and suppposed agreements, so be it. just don't expect me to not be snarky about it. and if having that free stickied thread means i have to restrict my speech more than anyone else here, you know where you can sticky your extortion.

if the promised rules updates were ever to be put in place, so we all know where we stand, and enforced equally across the board so we didn't feel discriminated against, it might be easier to not feel so snarky, and get on down the road one way or the other, whether to a new day pie on vr or the pie down the street.

of course, if them rules that have been coming for 3 weeks or so aint really coming at all, and someone had the cojones to say so, that would make it easier to move on down the other pie road. as long as we're in limbo here, it makes it kinda hard to know what to do. new day? or new way?

Mightydog I honestly do not know what rule updates you refer to. There are a couple of policy issues that are being discussed at this time, but nothing that remotely involves stickied threads.

This is the policy that is in effect,
...and I am not aware of any current proposed changes to this policy. You made a request for an additional thread, that request was denied. An offer was made to you which you rejected, perfectly within your rights to do, and that's where we're at. But there are no proposals to change any advertising rules. That possibility ended at the rejection of the offer from VerticalScope. It's time to close this chapter.

i'm referring to the fact that i was asked via pm to change my sig line. i don't see any reference in what you posted from the rules to legitimize that request, although i complied with it as soon as asked. i'm waiting for it to be legitimized by a rule of some sort.

i'm referring to rule #7 which is NOT enforced equally, but only seems to be directed at those who are disgruntled.

Rule #7 certainly is being enforced. Two links in sig lines were removed and pm's sent this weekend and accounts that have been created for the sole purpose of skirting the advertising policy are closed as soon as we become aware of them.

This is a "pay to play" site and the VR staff can't change that.

You've pointed this at me Mighty, and rightfully so. Give me a minute to explain. I am the new guy here; I promise you, I know the history, I understand your issues, I do feel your pain. let me say:

1. Noone is in limbo here, the policy is very clear to me. Your status is not in limbo here; you know (I hope you know) I like you and so do a bunch of other people. But you seem to be stuck on this thing where you think someone is taking advantage. Please, let me know how. I want to work this out and get back to the real business here, which is having a good time.

2. How is your ownership of your own personal stickied vendor page extortion? Please, if you feel the need PM me, but please explain to me how your unique ownership of that privelege is extortion and how it is unfair to you.

3. I am sorry, this website was personally owned and operated, at great expense. Had you, or I or anyone else, chosen to provide the capital needed to keep it great, we could put our names on it and own it. But we chose not to.

4. People did the best they could, this is a website for fun and information, not business. People who infer a business relationship... well, you know the old story about friends and business mixing?

5. The people who did put in the capital and time to run this website pay for our home by selling advertising, we are not their shills, we are the beneficiaries of a pretty nice thing. All we have to do is look at some pictures and nothing has changed and we don't have to pay for it... and we weren't willing to pay for it in the past.

6. This site was built by its people and it still runs on them. I am privy to all the restricted message boards. Not a single solitary message has come from a company. Not one. I desperately want you to be one of those people but you seem to think that someone has reneged on an agreement with you. Refer beack to earlier points, this is an entertainment place. We have really honestly done the best we can to give you a nice thing and still be fair to the nice people that pay for advertising space here.

7. Noone is being censored here, it is an open forum and free speech reigns. You can kick me all you want, for example, and I haven't winked a bit. It's because I really truly want to get to the heart of this conflict and end it rather than lose a friend. But remember, all free speech forums have rules and rule #1 , almost always, is no advertising. SO , keep that in mind; even the "evil company" has accomodated you.

Mighty, you tell me where it is not enforced and I will handle it personally. We want everyone to be equals and friends here and we want everyone to have a good time. I want you to know, publicly, that I and everyone else like to see you here but this issue has changed your interaction a lot... to the point where some other members have commented (I know you've noticed)

As far as my pie down the street comment, I think you know I'm a free world guy. As just another guy I have to remind people that if someplace makes them unhappy there are alternatives and frankly, that's fair for everyone.

Okie dokie, that's some good stuff. And I'm SO glad it was in public. Too many things are done in private around here, and it doesn't stick.

First off, I'd like to say that there's no danger of me personally not liking anyone involved in any of this, especially you. I was responding to things you said, which were obviously intended for me. As I'll do again, then move on, since it does seem to be settled.

The extortion comes in when I'm asked to not speak negatively about anything, or else what I've been given will be taken away, which it was, until you just gave it back. I'm talking about a sig line link primarily, not the stickied thread. If you have indeed read all that happened before you came onboard, you'll see that there is (or was) a direct connection between maintaining my sig line link and shutting up the negative talk.

that's simply not true. I put money into it since I've been here, on occassion, and once the Store got started, we put in over $1000 from the proceeds alone. As far as putting our names on it and owning it, we weren't given the chance in any way. The ship had already been hit by the torpedo before we even knew it was coming. Nothing for us to do but wonder what the **** happened while watching the lifeboats fill.

I got a private msg directly from the corporation's administrative rep asking me to remove my sig line link and also telling me that we could not use a new thread to conduct a contest for the super bowl. I considered that to be renegging on a previous agreement to limit our number of threads, which we had been doing already.

This is really the saddest thing of it all, imho, and why I hate to give up on this place. What this means is, no more games, giveaways, etc. That was the stuff that made it all worth the trouble, not the measley sales that trickle in one or two a month.

I'll consider that the final word, for as long as it remains uncontradicted, and I will be as happy as I can be.
