I Love Pennsylvania

Because of some arcane system of logic, Pennsylvania does not issue year long inspections for motorcycles before June 1. At least that is the simple explanation given to me by the gentleman that has been inspecting my motorcycles, and my parent's motorcycle for years. So the new to me Stratoliner had a May inspection, I follow my shop's advice, and ride in bright and early this morning, to get a sticker. He was out of stickers.

So I buzz back home, make a couple of calls, and on the phone with local to me Yamaha dealer, get told "If you hurry we might be able to get you in". They are about a half an hour easy ride away. I made it in twenty minutes, through one construction zone with a single lane of traffic, and across about three miles of fresh tar and chip road.

Fifty total miles this morning just to get my bike inspected.

never heard of short inspection periods for m/c 's. many stations dont carry m/c stickers in winter mo's because of low demand

I think it had something to do with my registration being due in February, which is when I bought the bike.

The guy has always been straight with me, and runs way less expensive than the other shops. Plus they have shop dogs. Real living breathing laid back dogs that you can pet to stay calm while they work on your bike. It is a good place.

I moved to PA in 1985. Had a dealer give me this story once but since then I always get a full year on my bikes by a local car garage. That is when I remember to get them inspected. LOL
