Took advantage of this past weekends weather and did an overnight at Port Crescent State Park (Port Crescent State Park (Port Austin, MI): Address, Phone Number, Top-Rated Attraction Reviews - TripAdvisor

Rode up the main artery of the thumb, M-53. Lots of good fall colors coming in, as well as farmer's markets, small towns, antique stores, U-Pick orchards and nice straightaways through corn fields to let loose (as loose as the C50 gets....)

Made it up to Port Austin in time to catch their farmer's market, picked up this beauty of a cast iron skillet for $12.50 from a nice older gentleman named Walt . He restores and seasons the skillets and they are some of the nicest I have ever seen.

Walked out on the very windy (scary even, had to hold the little lady tight!) pier. The views were great, and in better weather the lake is full of rental kayaks.

Got a prime campsite right on Saginaw Bay, sheltered to the southwest of Lake Huron so the wind was drastically reduced.

Hiked the 2.5 mile trail through state land, along the beach, hugging the Pinnebog river where there are some nice dunes with great views.

The campground has a firewood vending machine, so think of a 8'x10' shed that you feed five dollars, and a bundle of wood plops down at your feet. Wild stuff, in years past they had a family that drove around the campground in a truck selling wood, I guess automation lets them stay home while the shed does all the work! To make the VR members proud, I spent $20 on that machine for more firewood than we needed.

Sunset was awesome, Colors were intense and it seemed to last forever.

Had a nice fire as the stars came out, burnt all the wood and called it a night.

Took our time leaving the next day, we saw this covered wagon and were debating whether it could float or not. It's owner was not around to settle the debate.

The thumb is one of Michigan's nicest area for riding and I highly recommend to anybody who is ever in the area.
