Went motorcycle riding with the better half yesterday
Of course, someone talking on their cell phone pulls out right in front of us, leaving me three options: a) slam on the brakes, dump the bike and/or hit the car. b) don't hit the brakes and slam into the car at full speed, see how much distance I can get doing a Superman over the top of the car, hope for the best. c) use the turn only lane, hope no one else gives us a head on from the opposite direction, and get around them by grabbing a few fistfuls of gear and throttle and wishing them a big happy 'TOP OF THE MORNING, CAN YOU SEE/HEAR ME NOW?' as I blow by the car at Wide Open Throttle. Option C, thank you and TOP OF THE MORNING to you. ![]()

And the cager, totally oblivious to what he/she caused probably said "look at that crazy biker, driving like an a$$hole".

It is also at these moments that I like to remind these "sons of mothers" how loud my horns are. It may be a small bit of satisfaction, and sometimes there's not enough time to use it, but when you can, the look of surprised "oh crap!" on their faces is priceless. . .
Better than all that though, is that you and your wife are still in one piece and able to ride again!

Glad to hear you avoided the disaster. I'm sure the driver thought very little of you as you passed them.

Glad your decision tree was a short one and you went with the right decision! Always gotta be watchin', glad you are both OK. Yes, a loud horn has saved my butt a few times for sure! Once a gal pulled out from a red light into my lane, fortunately I did a quick look and moved into the left lane and laid on the Stebel on the way by. Her window was open and she immediately pulled over and stopped. I sincerely hope she wet herself!

Good move! Funny how that can happen in just a split second too.
Cell phones are a real problem here still...even though they've passed yet more laws which as usual, either don't get enforced or are ignored by folks. The ones that get me are the ones who know full well they pulled out in front of you almost purposefully daring you to hit them. I had such an occasion this summer and I was literally an inch from hitting him! Stalled the bike and almost put it down. I was furious. The guy literally flipped me off...yet I had right of way. Don't know what chip he had on his shoulder but had I been able to would have certainly followed him to ask. The good news was I didn't hit him, all ended well, and it taught me that some folks are just down right mean...for no apparent reason. Ride Safe
