tossing around the idea of custom painted saddlebags..

I have a cheap stock set of bags that came with my bike and was tossing around the idea of maybe throwing down some custom paint on them..maybe a mural idea or some kind of accent..screaming skulls, zombie mayhen etc ... haven't seen a whole lot of this idea out there..is there a reason ? anyone out there have custom painted saddlebags?

It's leather but just very stiff leather..I have leather acrylic paints made specially for leather that allows it to be flexible and waterproof. I've painted a few pairs of canvas converse shoes and a few leather jackets so I'm pretty sure the durability will be fine.

Not on leather obviously, but a friends dad has a custom Star Trek mural on his Victory.

I'd say give it a shot, especially if ur bike isn't black. I think if u painted it to match it'd look pretty sweet. And if not ur out of some cheap bags like ya said, or u could always sell them to someone.

I'd consider it for my bags if my bike weren't black; matching saddlebags to the bike paint usually looks really nice. I've just never seen it done with hard leather bags, so I'm definitely interested in the idea; whether u paint them to match the bike or with some other type of design.

okay so I'm still tossing the idea around..I've put together some mock ups of a couple ideas I'm thinking..accented not really painted now lol. I am planning to use heavy velcro as the closure so i don't have to deal with straps. I'm not sure what it's gonna look like to be honest..is it even worth it? to tacky? I'd love some opinions.

I like idea #2.

If you are not living on the edge, you are just taking up space.
