I do some camping in NC in the Summer and I decided it would be nice to have a 12V power source on the bike to charge my cell phone, blow up the inflatabed etc. So I took the side cover off and opened the tool compartment and wired one to the battery (with in line fuse of course). I just drilled a small hole in the back of the plastic box and ran the wires and sealed it with some dum dum. Then, I got the bright idea to cut the alligator clamps off of my battery tender and wire a male 12V plug to it and use the accessory outlet as a quick disconnect to the battery tender. A little solder, heat shrink tubing and some wire loom was all it took for that. You just have to be careful to match the polarity of the socket and plug. All in all, I have like $16 in this mod but some of the electrical stuff I already had in the garage. It works great and makes connecting the tender a lot easier than having to remove the seat each time.
I've not seen a mod for accessory power but I haven't spent a lot of time looking either. I apologize if someone else has already posted and I missed it. I've taken a lot from this forum and wanted to give some back. Merry Christmas, Mitch |

I added a socket to the speedo housing, copied it from another member here who did the same...
What have you done to your bike today?

Nice idea you did...I did this...well... I bought it, Kuryakyn, think I paid around $60...and had a friend Carlos (4D) install it for me...
![]() Love the thing too...use it to charge the cell...mp3, and to power my heated gear. Plug the battery tender into it when I return from riding this time of year. Priceless for me.
