There are many different kinds of plastic and you have to make sure you have the correct type of adhesive for the plastic. Heck, super glue is still out there, so it must work, I just haven't found out on what ............ except my fingers Fiberglass doesn't seem to care what is being used for.

The plastic weld link I posted is the identical stuff I used on my fender. This product was suggested to me by an auto body tech friend of mine......Fiberglass resins and the plastic weld both use a two part formula to make the product "kick" to a hardened state quickly.....ABS glue does not.
You have to be very careful with fiberglass resin because it can melt most plastics.

I see. The ABS glue I'm most familiar with is used to glue black ABS plumbing pipe together and you are right, it's not a 2 part formula but it is a solvent type of glue that causes the joining surfaces to melt or weld together. I can only speculate on what type of glue the OP used, or what the fender is made of, but from his description it appears that the particular glue that was used did softened the plastic much like I've seen with ABS glue on ABS pipe. Bottom line is I don't think it was the sun that caused the blemish.

This does expand and soften just by being out in the sun. I even noticed it softening-up when I was sanding it down. Right now my bike is in the garage, and it's as hard as cement. Parked the bike out in the sun, and it softens and expands. It hardens up to room temp, I guess this stuff was engineered for plastic plumbing only. Right now I'm going to leave it as it is...I have an idea what to use to cover that part of the fender. Stay tuned...
