To all those wondering about MrT's LED mod this the walmart lights, here are some pictures showing you what to do. Took me all of 30 minutes once I started. I will not go into installing the lights, there are plenty of threads doing that. These are rated at 3 watt each so you are vastly reducing the load on the bike's electrical.
First, order THESE specific lights, I can verify that they fit (do NOT order the 4 LED ones, they do not). And they only cost 4.99 +s/h each. Now, open the housing and this is what you will see with the OEM bulb out. ![]() Note the metal part the screwdriver is touching, this has to go away. Pull the wires in through the housing, grab the metal piece with some pliers and pop it off and this is what it should then look like once the wires are back installed. ![]() Now install the LED light, place the cover back on and very important if you have not done this yet, drill a small hole and put a set screw in to hold the housing on. Since this bulb is slightly different than the OEM the housing is a little looser and will fall off pretty soon. This is on the bike, just installed a 6000k HID light and the brightness rivals it.

Cool.
I just ordered cheap spotlight (lightbars) with turn signal for my vol. It have ordinary 1156 bulbs in each spotlight so I decide to order pair of Cree 7 watts type 1156 White LED (one with tublar cooling fins and "fisheye" len on end) to swap out incandescent type 1156 bulbs. I can tell it's really bright. It's bright enough to shine on some distance. At least it go easy on battery. |

I got my order from Golden Gadgets (the link above) and they sent me the wrong bulbs!! They sent me 3 X 1W E27 those are 110V. So I contacted them and will post up if they give me any further grief.

Now you asked for it, Yesterday I just got spotlight/turnsignal from shipment
As soon as shipment arrived at my house, I took out two cheap spotlights and made a real quick modifications to accommodate 7 watts Cree LEDs which are tall bulbs. Originally, both spotlights had "BA9S" type bulb which is a little round bulb with similiar 1156 type base. Lighbulbs looked wimpy to me. I use Dremel round stone grinder that fits the hole and grinded plastic stops until I punched through to other end. So that the socket will go deeper. I've tested both spotlights with Cree bulbs. It's really bright! I can't wait to use it.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Beeauutifull!! ![]() Catty Last edited by Deafvl800rider; 10-25-2012 at 09:44 PM. |

So that fit back into the housing no problem. That's great!
If you can try posting a shot when you have them install and operating. I'm wondering why the bulb is so much longer.
