Hello everyone, I'm thinking of putting Santee 10" mini-apes on my 07 c50T. I understand that the stock cables will not work. How much longer do I need? (2 over, 4 over ect.). Where's the best place to buy from? Also, what might I expect to pay for this mod? Other member satisfaction and pics would be great! Thanks a bunch!

I put 12 in Mini Apes on my 06 C50T. I replaced the 3 cables and brake line with braided cables, nicer look.
What U should do is mount the new handlebars in the risers (it's easy, 4 bolts) leave everything mounted on the old handlebars and see how they match up. I don't think you will need new cables. Maybe the bake line to the front caliber. The Micro flesh lists the clutch cable $56.27, throttle cable 1 - $55.70, throttle cable 2- $46.70 and the brake lineis about the same.

I bought long universals and screw on nipples and made them up myself using the old adjusters. It takes a bit of trial and error but worked out okay in the end. And much cheeper.

05, yes; 07 no, they changed/shortened the length of the cables that year.

Thanks everyone, good idea Vortex1x, that would make sence to mock it up leaving everything else intact. I do like the steel braided look too. Someone told me that they thought the 07's had shorter cables. Thanks Jendesigner for the conformation on that. I'll post pic's once I learn how to work this new i-phone thing i've got! Thanks again to all for your helpful replies.

Can someone explain this to me?
The stock bars are 5" rise & 14" pullback, the santee are 10" rise & 7" pullback. So even though you go up 5" more, you come forward 7" My first instinct is that would work with stock cables ( even on an 08 or 07) so why won't it? Anyone try? |
