Ok, I have kind of dumb thought.... Why can't you just use a couple of small "u" bolts with washers and secure them to the saddle bag brackets if you are using a passenger seat?

Did this mod 2 weeks ago. I dint bother with any supports. My bags were 3 years old anyway. And they were really bent out of shape anyway coz of a tipover. I just drilled 2 holes exactly where the bolts go on the bike on the plastic part of the saddle bag and ran the bolts through. First comes bag then saddle bag support then passenger backrest bracket then the bike. Looking really good. Can carry decent weight as well. No problems yet....
