I was thinking about doing kickstand mod if I lower rear down to 3 inches.

I just did the 3" lowering bones in the rear and I've had a little anxiety about how upright the bike sits at times on the stock kickstand. It's very windy out here in the mojave and I've seen a lot of bikes on their sides after the wind storms. A little more lean couldn't hurt it...

Had my new (to me) 04 Vol up on the lift to give it an oil change. Figured I'd take a look at the kickstand while it was already up. I ended up grinding off most of the small nub off. Ad I have to say I like the way she leans now. Plus it makes me feel better knowing its going to take a little more for it to tip now.

I don't think so. I had an '07 and did not have to do this. It seems that Suzuki fixed it before the '05 models, if I'm not mistaken. . . .

Wish I had known about this sooner. My kickstand just failed today and my bike fell over. On top of a scrapped tank badge and a dent in the same location, I strained my wrist at the same time. =[
