When I did it, I used regular silicone, but the high temp stuff will work better i guess. Those lights did get pretty hot. My brother still has them installed on his bike, but has switched them over to LED bulbs. They're pretty bright, but not as bright as the halogen bulbs. You can see them on the road right in front of the bike. He doesn't need much light though because he switched over to an HID headlight a few months back.

I put the same lights on my wifes Volusia trike. God those things are brighter than the headlight it`self! I kept it simple and wired them to the battery with the supplied switch and hid it under the tank. I used "P" brackets and simply bolted them to the turn signal stalks

They are standard Halogens adapted for the motorcycle. They do get hot. I have wondered if they would crack during a sudden rain at night

I've been caught in the rain with them on a few times = no problems.
