So I copied Sisco's pics above and completed my first mod (if you don't count windshields). Thanks for the great ideas!

I siliconed the button and heatshrinked the connectors. I like having extra wire for that "you never expected it" situation.

Close Up, having cleaned it yet

Further out.

Not sure this will help; I put mine on the right side cover
BTW: the switch is not weatherproof or even siliconed but in nearly three years I haven't had any problems.

Sisco! Where'd you get that metal switch???

I just carry a keychain sized opener in my pocket so when I switch from one bike to the other it goes with me.

Works on all three bikes very well.

Sisco's mettalic switch complements the bike. I've checked out every Radio Shack around here...no finds. I'm keeping my eyes open in the Los Angeles County.

I 'm getting ready to install a remote on our new bike today, so I had to dredge MY thread back up so I could remember what I did.

Nice!

Does it handle being wet?

I did the mod a while back and it works great. Only problem is the housing development I live in has hundreds of houses with only dozens of freqs available for the garage doors. So some repeat. If I drive around my neighborhood with my high beams on I open about every couple garages I pass lol
