Alright, I installed the Avon Venom X WWW because I couldn't figure out which Auto tire would fit. I took the rear tire to them and it still cost 233.00. My style of riding, mostly highway would be just fine "I believe" for the car tire. I researched and found a lot of debate but no specifics. So can someone please point me to the right tire. I want the widest I can get on the rear. But more important I just need to know the size that'll work.
Brand Size Thanks all for replies. |

OK, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that will say this, but:
If you do you risk doing serious damage to both yourself and your bike. Car tyres are not designed for leaning, which is how we turn a bike. |

For those members that use the "darkside" tire I'd really like to hear from you still. Thanks |

Motorcycle rim sizes are measured differently from automoble rim sizes.
If you want to run automobile tires on a motorcycle then you have to change the rims also. This is done quite often with sidecar outfits. |

I did a search on the site and several threads came up. Here is just one. I don't remember anyone on the site that has done it yet but there may be. Someone will know. I do know a lot of people have added a 200 tire but it is for the bike not a car tire.

I was lurking on a VTX forum. They have a whole section dedicated to
THE DARK SIDE. It looks pretty easy to put a car tire on a motorcycle rim but the rim needs to be able to accomadate a tubless tire. What type of car tire? Well one gut used a winter tire- I think it was a Blizzak. All you need is the correct rim size. You also have to find a car tire with approxamatly the same outside diameter. I think the outside diameter on the Volusia/C-50 is 26 inches. Also most of the VTX riders who have converted say there bikes still corner well. Good luck. Let us know how it goes on the DARK SIDE.

This info from a sidecar site:
5. SIDECARS: Sometimes sidecar folks will use a rear wheel on the front. If you do so, and the tire has a directional arrow, do REVERSE the tire, so the direction arrow is in the wrong direction of travel. For sidecarists, 16 inch rims CAN be used for passenger car tires OR motorcycle tires (if rim width is proper), but do NOT use a 15 inch m/c tire on a 15 inch car rim, nor 15 inch car tire on a 15 inch motorcycle rated rim. You MAY be able to do it if a rim is skimmed on a lathe....HEED THIS WARNING!!! The 15 inch car tires and 15 inch motorcycle rims are NOT the same diameter!!! |

I guess I'll approach it from a different tack. Why put a car tire on a bike (unless its a sidecar, but I use Metzeler Block K sidecar tires on my hack.) Anyway, I guess that's the question. Why go to all that inconvenience...
It certainly won't save you any dough in the long run. Is there some benefit to not having tread on the sides for turning? Is it supposed to last longer? Do young girls like it more?
